Ladue Schools App

Dear Spoede Families,

For the time being please do not use the Ladue Schools App to determine when Spoede events and activities are.  We have determined that the app is not communicating with our calendar and have solicited help to try and  help fix this situation.
Open House is September 3rd, NOT August 27th.

Thanks!

Kim

Principal's Update

What an amazing first day of school!!  I'd like to thank everyone for such a smooth morning!  It was so wonderful to see all of you and to welcome back our turtles!!  Thank you so much for parking only in Lanes 2 & 3 in the front and back behind the gym.  The kids have been absolutely amazing today.  Classes have been learning class procedures and doing team building activities to start building a classroom community.

Please remember that tomorrow we ask that students enter school by themselves.  Kindergarten parents- DO NOT WORRY!!  We have lots of staff and 4th Grade Volunteers to help the kids get to class.

Have a great evening!

Kim

Dear Spoede Families,

It is so hard to believe we have only 9 day of school remaining.  There are so many great events coming up: the Spoede Picnic on the 17, 4th Grade Celebration, Play Day for the students, etc.  I also wanted to let everyone know that Dr. Wipke, our new superintendent will be attending the SSA General Meeting next Tuesday at 7 in the Spoede Library.  The gym foyer door will be open that evening for entering.  Hope to see everyone there!!

Have a nice weekend,

Kim

Principal's Update

Springing Forward to the 2019 – 2020 School Year
It’s hard to believe we here at Spoede are beginning to plan for the 2019– 2020 school year.  To highlight some of our efforts, we are beginning to order materials, develop schedules, review teacher assignments, plan transition activities for our fourth graders and create class lists.   You will be receiving a sheet to return to the office indicating whether or not your child (ren) will return to Spoede for next school year.  Please return this as soon as possible, as it gives us valuable information when planning for next year.

During the next month we will begin creating class lists.  I can assure you that our goal is to place each student in a classroom where he/she will be successful.  The process that we use is very thorough and time intensive.  Each staff member participates in the process to ensure that we are looking at all aspects of a student’s education and personality.  We specifically consider each student’s achievement level, learning style, strengths/talents, special program needs, motivation level, and peer relationships.  Another one of our goals is to create balanced classrooms across grade levels that will enable staff to meet the needs of all students.

Parent input regarding class placement is welcomed but not required.  We acknowledge the important role parents have in their child’s education and the success of our entire Spoede Community.  Therefore, you are more than welcome to submit information you feel is relevant and unique about your child(ren).

Because I review teacher assignments each year, requests to have or not to have specific teachers cannot be accepted. Therefore, the most helpful information you can submit relates to your child’s learning style, strengths/talents, motivation level, adult personality traits he/she responds well to and peer relationships.  PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A SPECIFIC TEACHER.  If you would like to submit information to assist in placing your child in a classroom, please send it in writing to the office or email me at kstallons@ladueschools.net by next FRIDAY, April 5, 2019 for it to be taken into consideration.   I will be sure to send one reminder email of the date, and information will not be accepted after 3:30 p.m. on April 5, 2019.

Principal's Update

Dear Spoede Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend.  Just as a reminder, please remember that it is flu season. Luckily, so far, we have only have five cases of the flu.  Please remember not to send your child to school with a fever.

Hopefully we can get through these next weeks without the bitter cold we all just survived and before we know it, March and parent conferences will be here.

Stay warm,

Kim
